The Melbourne Argus of August 9.3rd reports :— Thq business done in the import market to-day has been principally in flour, grain, and kerosine oil ; in other articles we hear of nothing beyond small trade transactions. The improved feeling noted in tha flour market continues, and prices are advancing , buyeis of quantity at late current rates remain imsupplied, and wa understand that the millers' price will bo advanced on Monday to £ 14 10s per ton "Wheat participates in the improvement , 6s Cd net cash has been paid for best Adelaide, and higher lates ara asked Maize continues in good demand, at very full rates, Further considerable transactions have taken place in kerosine, at up to 2s Id for Downer's, and other brands in proportion. Largo parcels of Brandon's candles have been Bold to-day at lOAd, and 10}d is now asked. The Argus of the 20th sayi : — A parcel of 400 bugs Port Macdonnoll wheat wai sold at Gs Id per bushel, and a line of Califoinian oats at 4s 3d per bushel Maize has again been in considerable inquiry , 1,700 bags, to ariivo per ' Mary Grant,' were sold at 4s 8Jd, and Letween 1,500 and 2 000 bags ou the spot at 4s 4d and 4s 4id per bushel. For 1,000 bushels malt a ti lflo under quoted ratei of 9s 6d per bushel was accepted Bavarian hops were placed U 7dper Ifo At auction, 2.7S0 bags Mauritius sugar were sold at price* fully sustaining late rates Afterwards, about 7,000 bags were placed privately at advanced rates, and prices are now quoted £2 per ton higher Kerosine continues in 3trong demand A line of Comet biand has baon placed at Is lOAd while for Devoe's Is lOJd, and for Downei's 2s 0*d have be'en refused Fine brandies, both in bulk and case", continue in demand A parcel of 100 quarter-cusks Otard's palo brandy changed hands at full lates, and Hennossy's caso brandy at 26s 9d '
