THE NATHAN TROUPE.

There was a crowded house at the Piince of Wales Theatre last evening, to accord a hearty welcome to those old Auckland favourites, the Nathan Troupe. No oue who has ever seen the performance of that clever little prodigy of histrionic talent, Miss Marion, will be likely to forget the pleasure derived from listening to her inimitable songs, or witnessing her intensely humorous acting. The performance commence! with a magnificent overture, presided over by the musical director of the troupe, Mr. Edward Salaman, after which the ourfcain rose to the sparkling Comedy, ia two acts, by Dion Boucicault, entitled "Andy Blake, or the Irinh Diamond," in which the whole of the Nathan Troupa took part, Little Marion sustaining ihe i&Me of Andys We were glad to find that she had lost none of hor old specialty, and throughout the whole piece the bouse w^s kept in contiuued merriment by her real and ready humour, sparkling with wit, and brimful of life and originality. The reading of the dead father's letter by the child, however, afforded an opportunity for display of genuine feeling which, from so >oung a child, was realty astonishing, The effect upon the audience was most marked, and at the conclusion of the letter-reading Little Marion was greeted with a tremendous and spontaneous burst of applause from every part of the crowded house. After the first piece, that prince of Irish songsters, Mr. Joe Small, sang the two song-*, "Larigan'a Ball," and "The Widow Machree," in that peculiarly happy style for which he is bo famous, and was loudly encored. A cornet duet followed, by the two Masters Nathan; after which the amusing farce (written expressly for the 1 troupe by Mr. .-mall) of " The Colonial Servant" was performed, ia which, as Budget Murphy, La Petite Morion again distinguished herself, and w<m golden opinions. The other characters were also well sustained by Miss Jttlm and. Miss Selma, and by Mr. J. Chambers. The whole performance concluded the b*llet divertissement of "The Village Phantom," which afforded an opportunity for the display of some very excellent dancing on the part of the Misses Nathan and Mrl J. Chambers. There will be an entire change of performance this evening.
