The markets generally continue to maintain an aspect of quietness. Breadstuff's, however, begin to be moved off much more fively, rather a brisk demand for flour having been experienced in parcels of up to fifty tons in a Hue, at £13 Ida to £14 10s ; and in the aggregate about 200 tons are said to have changed hands. No sales of wheat have been made public. There is more attention paid to feeding grains. We hear it stated that the New Zealand oats, per 'Swordfish' and 'Salamander,' were placed in one line a day or two ago, on terms withheld. Maize is selling readily at 3s 10d. There is a considerable trade doing in teas ; about 125 chests and 50 half-chests of good common to medium congous, ex 'Katarina Maria,' found purchasers at prices ranging from Is 6d to Is 9J. Some 1,600 boxes and about 300 half -chests of fine congous, ex ' Coryphaeus,' were also taken up by one buyer ; and 200 chests aad 200 half-chests of last season's teas were disposed of at satisfactory prices. There is a fair demand for hops ; a considerable parcel of 1867 Kent was placed at 1b BJ. A shipment of 70 pockets of old hops was also sold at a very full figure. In oilmen's stores we note the sale of a parcel of Lea and, Perrin's sauces at 13s. Under the hammer some 296 packages of tobaccos were got rid of this forenoon ; pounds were quitted at 9£d to 11£J ; half-pounds, at lOfd to 11-Jd ; aromatic twists, at Is 9d; fancy, at 12fcd to 13f d ; bars, at Is 2£d ; and tens at 8d to 9|d. Close on 600 packages of American chairs were also disposed of by auction. In liquids, we note sales of Jeffrey's, DevenishV, and Bass's triangle ale, to the extant of 500 barrels, at prices rising, according to brand, to 10a. A line of Byaas's stout was taken up, for shipment, at equal to 8i 6d, duty paid. Sales of Campbells whiskey are reported at 4s lOd. — Austrcdasian, October 24.
