MR. SWAN AND THE ELECTORS.
TO THB BDITOK OP THB "THAMES ADTBBTISBB." • Sir, — There are two points on which I •wish to set this community right, and oa which I ask you to insert the following explanation. Major Heaphy introduced the question of the representation of the Thames goidiield to the House before I took my seat (no doubt a very cheap and eaßy mode of making political capital) ; that is, I suppose, an answer to the question you put in your leader. With reference to the Treason -Felony Bill, I may say I have looked into the Hansard, and I find that the bill was read a third time and passed on July 22nd. I did not arrive in Wellington till the 23rd, so that I could not have had anything to do with the bill, or the division on it. I think that is an answer to the inquiries made me yesterday with reference to this subject. I may also say that I told Borne miners oh the Btage yesterday that the bill went through the House before I took my Beat. — I am, &c, Wm. T. Swan, November 5, 1868.
