MANGONUI. (FROM A CORRESPONDENT.)
' The whaling ihip ' Marengo,' Captain Little, called here lust week far letter?, firewood, and water, and left again on the morning of the 26th instant. Keports having taken 75 barrels sperm oil since leaving this port 6th May last; the 'Aladdin,' of Hobart Town four months out, with 40 barrels sperm ; the •Onward' (late ' Stephania'), Captain St Clair, belonging to Austin and Barron, Sydney, 60 days out, with 100 barrels whale oil ; the ' Hunter,' of New Bedford, September 15, 375 barrels sperm ; the •James Arnold,' 115 barrels sperm ; 'Milton,' nothing since leaving Bay of Islands last May. Captain Little reports that a large fleet of whalers may be expected in Mangonui during this season, in consequence of the non-success of the Arctic whalers up to the month of July, and the number of ships which have left New Bedford for the South Pacific.
