THE TIMBER TRADE.
The timber trade — which ought to be, and which will be, one of the staple trades of this province— has been for some time improving. We may nay thai; from one mill at Kaipara alone 650,000 feet have been ordered. The demand for timber is very active at present, both for Shortland and Auckland ; and buyers hare had 10 jjo to tho Kaipara, and hare arranged to take the large quantity vre have stated above. The freight given varies from 4s. to 53. per thousand.
