LOCAL SELF-GOVERNMENT.
It w*s pretty well understood that the long list of diuatisfied districts, olamouring for separation, had bern closed since the Assembly ia session. We learn that the Kaikoura district, a portion of diminutive Matlborough, h»s gone in for self-local independence also, and that a petition from its inhabitants iff shortly to be presented to the Legislature.
