MEETING OF THE AUCKLAND RIFLE VOLUNTEERS' FIN A NCE COMMITTEE.
A MSETisa o£ tha Auo'dv.d Wifle Volunteers Finance Committee was held at the coinunttro's rooma, Queen-street, last eveniig. Tilde wrr • prosent—Major Heapby, Mr. Soall, Envgn Skiuucr, Colour-bergeant Courtney, Mr. L. D. Nathan, and Captain Derrom (in the chair). The minutes of the last meeting having been read and confirmed, the oft-mooted question relative to the Stockade reserve for the use of the volunteers for practice was again considered. The Chairman stated that Major Tighe and Major Heapby bad waited upon Mr. Ogilvie in order to obtain his conseot to the use of the ground, and had received a reply to the effect that he (Mr. Ogilvie) would Btrenuously oppose the application, unless Mr, Firth acquiesced ; and, in the event of Mr. Firth's compliance, his Honor the Superintendent had intimated his willingness to convey the reserve for the purposes of the corps in terms of the Wnste Lands Act. After some discussion on the subject, the matter was dropped. Reference was made to the desire of the younger members of the corps that the scarlet tunic mieht be allowed to be worn on parade, when Major Hbaphy proposed, that the existing uniform should be worn by the Volunteers until worn out, after which the Government regulations could be conformed to. The resolution was seconded by Mr. Soall, and carried. ,_ Proposed by Mr. Skinnkb, seconded by Mr. Soall, and carried, that application be made to Mr. Joseph Cochrane for the money placed in his hands some time sinoe for the purchase of flas;*. Propesed by Mr. Nathan, seconded by Mr. Courtnby, and carried, that Captain Derrom, Captain Tole, and Ensign Skinner compnoe the Baud Committee of the corps, I Other matters of importance having been postponed • until a future meeting, a vote of thanks was accorded ,to the Chairman, and the meeting separated.
