INSEPCTION OF CAVALRY VOLUNTEERS.

Precisely at noon the various Volunteer Cavalry Gorpx assembled at the Triangle paddock, as follow: — Ltahvbd Troo?, No. I.—Captain Bauett, Lieutenant Uunciman, Cornet Robertson, and 20 rank ana tile. Auckland Troo*, No. 2. —Oiptain Hardington, Lieutenant Marks, Cornet Davrson, Dr. Hooper, Veterinary Surgeon Kiuloch; total rank and file, 33. Howicx Troop, No. S. —Lieutenant Robert?, Cornet Hill, Dr. Hovell, and 32 rank and file. William Ryland, drill instructor of cavalry in the Auckland district. Colonel Kenny, the Tmpeotor of CavaJry Voluntears, accompanied by Major Tighe, the Officer Commanding Militia and Volunteers, loon arrived on the ground; and preparations were made to begin the inspection. This was the first ocoasion on whioti the various cavalry tron p* had been drilled together, and many of them were mere recruits, However the various manoeuvres were very creditably executed. Colonel Keney inspected the men in line, and also their arms and accoutrements; the troops marohed past in slow and quick time, and afterwards were put through a variety of manoeuvres, all of which were creditably executed. At the con* olnsion of the inspection, officers of troops were called to the froit, and the Inspecting Officer made f> few practical observations respecting the internal discipline and efficiency of the regiment. This over, the Cavalry returned to the village and partook of refrenhmeots, having been over two bours in the •addle. Towards three o'clock they remounted and proceeded to met his Excellency at Ann's Bridge, The carriages were escorted into the village, and drew up in an open space in the centre of the village, nearly opposite the Public Hall.
