MAKETU HIGHWAY DISTRICT. (FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
A MHEraro of the trustees of this board was held at the Church of St. Peter in the Forest on Saturday, the 11th iottant, when the following reiolutions vrere duly carried and entered in the minutes :—: — Proposed by Mr. THEOPHiLTrs Pratt, seconded by Mr. ROBBBT PROTOB : " That Mr. William Kerr, of Springfield, be elected chairman of the M»ketu Board."— Carried unanimously Proposed by Mr. J. B. Hair, seconded by Mr. Edwabd Megboxtrne: "That Mr. Richard Worthington, senior, be elected seoretary and collector to the Maketn district for the present year. — Carried unanimously. Proposed by Mr. G. B. Hub, seconded by Mr. Thkophiujs Pratt, and carried unanimously : i " That Mr. Robert Proude be elected Treasurer to the board." . . . The meeting then broke up, having previously authorised the chairman to expend the sum of five guineas in procuring a correct map of the district.
