NELSON.

There is little to say this month to vary the tale of several months past — the great depression in all branches of trade. Dullness reigns supreme, and, what is worse, we see no prospect of any immediate revival of trade. The market in Nelson is fairly stocked with most kinds of goods, which careful shipments keep well sustained, without creating a glut. The ( Charlotte Ann,' now daily expected to arrive, will fill up any stocks that may be running short j and the ' Algernon' had completed her loading when the last mail left England, and will he sow well on her passage. The < Donna Anita,' the second vroolship of the season, from Port Underwood, sailed with 1,600 bales on the 15th March ; and the ( Ceesarea,' with 1,450 bales, will sail on the 10th instant ; and this will be pretty well the last of the season's clip. The continued low prioe of wool is a very serious \ matter to our flockowners, and to some the effect will be little short of ruinous. With a depressed wool market has come a difficulty of disposing of fat or surplus stock, and the two combined are severely felt in all quarters. The only material change in our markets has been an advance of £2 a ton in the price of flour. Flour has now, we believe, reached its limit, as any further advance would see importations received from South America, and prices thereby brought down. The present prioe of grain is sufficiently remunerative to the farmer, and we have no wish to see the first necessary of life pushed up to ft price that would be severely felt by our working population. — Ndsan Examiner, April 4.
