In the import markets to-day buiioess hat been without the slightest appearance of animation, and considerable difficulty has been experienced in making tales [in anything like quantities. Breadstuff-* present an aspect of great dulmeu, flour etpecially being quite neglected. We still continue to quote £20 10s. for trade parcels; though in quantity it has been offering freely at £20 without finding buyeri. Sales of whvat are mentioned at 8* 9d ; in moat oasea, however, the millers refuse to pay orer 8s od, at which figure transactions to a moderate extent have also been made. Oats attract more notice, and we bear of a few hundred bags having been quitted at 4s 3d. Maize is moved off at 3s lid for trade purposes ; to effect sales of a more exttnsive nature, a concession on this rate has to be allowed. Candles are getting more into favour again. A line of a thousand boxes was closed for by one buyer at ll£d. The demand for currants, hitherto so slow, is beginning to revive ; we quote for best 3£d to 3fd; a shipment of about two hundred barrels changed hands on private term*. The low price ruling for Manilla cheroots has directed speculative attention to these goods ; and we understand that the Sydney and Adelaide markets have been bought up, as well as the whole of the stock held here, at prices rising to 545.
