The Wellington.— The N.ZS.N. Co.'« 8.8. Wellington left; for Tauranga and the Southern potts on Saturday, with a general cargo and the following, paisengers :— Mm. St. John and child, Mrs. French, Miis Reynolds, Miss Holmden ; Messrs. E. Smith, Campney, Balharry, Maclean, Westrupp, Fenton, Syms, O'Neill, and Lewis. The Lor» Ashley.— The P., N.Z., and A.R.M. Co.'s t.B. Lord Aihley left on Saturday for the Sonthern ports, with the supplementary English » mail and the following passengers :— Cabin : Mrs. * Poole, Master Holy wood, Mra. E. Smith, Mr. Smith, and Mr. Morrison Fore cabin : Messrs. W. Tuffs, J. M. Campbell, and G. Sherrard. The steamer Enterprise No. 2 arrived from the Thames on Saturday night, with 90 paisengers. The Tauranga also brought up a number of pai* sengers from the same place. ' - The p.s. Olyde arrived last eveniug from the Thames, with 20 pastengerg. She also brought, up the body of Mr. J. Nolan, who 1 was drowned at Shortland on Friday night. The schooner Tawera sailed for Poverty Bay on Saturday, with a quantity of general merchandise and one passenger. The cutter Hero left on Saturday for Wbangarei, with sundries and eight passengers. The schooner Argo arrived last evening irom Whangarei, with a quantity of apples, onions, Ac, and nine passengers. The cutter Margaret arrived yesterday from Opotiki, with sundries and ten passengers. The Margaret has been twice driven ashore in attempting to cross the bar, but managed to dear it on Tuesdaj. She experienced light winds along the coast until arriving as above. The cutter Whitby was lying at Opotiki when the Margaret left. The sohoooer Fortune sailed yesterday for Opotiki, with sundries. The cutter Mahurangi arrived from Puhoi on Saturday, with iix passengers. She left that place at noon on Friday, and at about 5 o'clock in the afternoon, when between Tiritiri and the mainland, sprang a leak. By throwing overboard the whole of the cargo the crew and passengers managed to keep the vessel afloat until reaching Whangaparoa, where she was caulked. Fears are entertained for the safety of the steamer Cleopatra. It appears that the «.s. Ahuriri passed her on April 5, at anchor off Cape PaUiser, the ourrent being too strong for her to round it. As she had not arrived at Wellington on the 6th, it is supposed that she must have been driven ashore. H.M. s Rosario.— Thursday's Melbourne Argus says :— " We observe from the Cape Argus of the 4th ultimo that H. M. s. Rosario, from England to Australia, had put into Simon's Bay on the Sunday previous, for coals and supplies. She is a small vessel, of 673 tonß, three guns, and manned by a orew of 14 officers and 112 men, under the command of Captain (J. Palmer. The vessel, it was said, would remain in Simon's Bay some days before proceeding on her \oy*ge."— Sydney Morning Herald, March 30. The barque Sea Nymph arrived on Saturday from Mauritius, and was placed in quarantine in consequence of there being six cases of fever on board among the crew. The men were complaining before they left the island, but preferred coming on by the vessel. Two of them are very ill indeed. Dr. Alleyne purposes having the ship thoroughly f umigated, and leaving those of the crew who are ill at Spring Cove, when the barque can come up to Sydney. yie reports that the fever was again on the increase in Pore Louis, and much sickness among the ship* ping. — Ibid. Shit Columbus Burnt at si a. — Two boats arrived at Port Elizabeth on the 2nd of February, containing the crew of the ship Columbus, 1,096 tons, Captaia Ady, from Liverpool to Rangoon, which took fire when J 2 degrees south of the line. The crew got into the boats with one month's provisions. They *tood by the ship for five hours, when she was burnt to the water's edge. Five days afterwards they fell in with the barque Alumina, which took them on board, and brought them within thirteen miles of town. The crew number twenty-three in all —Cape Argut, February 4. The splendid ship Retriever, frem Zanzibar to London, with a general cargo, put into Table Bay on Monday night, for supplies and medical aid. She has, we believe, several cases of dysentery on board. The vessel has also put in for repairs, as she makes a considerable quantity of water. It is probable that she will be discharged of the whole of her cargo, and taken up on the patent slip, so as to have the necessary repairs effected. The vessel is a fine large ship of 1,400 tons, commanded by Captain Athey, and belongs to Messrs. De Pass and Co., of London and Australia. She has on board a very large cargo of Eastern (Zanzibar) produce, which consists of not less than 2,000 tons. Captain Athey reports that, up to the day of his departure from Zanzibar, Deoember 19, no further intelligence had been received of Dr. Livingstone.— lbid., January 30.
