We give an abstract of the contents :— ' By a proclamation, new polling-places, in elections for members of the House of Representatives, are appointed for the Northern Division, City of Dunedin, Waikouaiti, Roslya, Manuherikia, and Goldtields. We give the placet named for the Northern Division : — Devonporb Aisembly Hall, North Shore ; Little Muddy Creek, Mr. John. McPike's residence ; Hendersons Mill ; Worth Shore, Mr. Reed'sjresidence, Stokes's Point ; Weiti, Mr. Lloyd's barn ; Maharongt, the Public Hall. The Pilot-station, Flagstaff, North shore, ia abolished as a polling-place for the Northern Division ; and Mr. Bucklaad's yard, Newmarket, and the Policestation, Papakura, are abolithed as polling-places for the district of Raglan. For elections of Superintendents or members of the Provincial Council, the Deronport Aisembly Hall, North Shore, is appointed a polling-place for th 6 Northern Division; the redoubt at East Hamilton for the .district of Franklyn ; the Court-house, Weit Hamilton, and the Public Hall, Otahuhu, for the district of Raglan. The Otahuhu Public Hall ii to be the principal polling-place for the district of Raglan; and the Devonpnrt Assembly Hall _the principal g)lling-place for the Northern Division. Lloyd's am, Weiti, is abolished as a polling-place for provincial elections, and the Settlers' Store, Weiti, appointed in lieu thereof. i Certain land claims, preferred by natives who have not signed the deed of sale, in the Manawatu-Rangi-tikei Block, which was excepted from the Native Lands Act, 1865, are referred to the Native Lands ,Court. , A petition from inhabitant householders in the district of Timaru, with a letter of assent from the .Superintendent of Canterbury, praying that the town of Timaru may be constituted a borough, are published. ' Despatches with enclosures from the Secretary of state for the Colonies are published, in reference to the recognition of new flags which have been established by the King of Prussia for ships of war and merchant vesseli of the North German Confederation. Directions are also published in relation to >the transmission to the Kegistrar-Generatof Seamen of ships' articles, and official log-books for voyages terminated abroad. The Merohant Shipping Act, 1867, is published, and particular attention is called to 'section 6 and section 10, paragraph 5. which relate 'to the supply of antiscorbutics, and the appointment of medical inspectors of seamen in the colonies. A Government Gazette for the county of Westland is to be published at Hokitika. An order from the Commissioner of Customs revokes and annuls the appointments of certiio buildings as warehouses for the reception and security of goods entered to be warehoused, without 1 payment of duty upon the first entry thereof. The 1 following are the buildings in the port of Auckland : ' — The building or buildings occupied by Messrs. J. and H. GilfilUn, situate in Lower Queen-street, : known as bond, from the 24i.1i day of i January. 1868 ; the building or buildings occupied ' by Mr. Joha Salmon, situate in Lower Queen-street, I known as Salmon's bond, from the 24th day of January, 1868 ; the iron store occupied by Messrs. { Cruickshank, Smart, and Co., licensed for beer only, from the 24th day of January, 1868 ; the upper floor of a building iv the occupation of Messrs Lewis Brothers, known as Lewis's bond, from the '24th day of January, 1868. 1 The following notice, under the Patents Act, 1860, 'is published:— "Notice is hereby given that an 1 application has been made by Alfred > s tacy Watson, 'of the city of Auckland, in the colony of New Zea- ' land, settler, in accordance with the Patents Act, ' 1860, for the issue to him of letters patent, granting him the exclusif c use of a new invention or improvement i originated or discovered by him, being a machine for the purpose of separating gold from quartz, and for its amalgamation or mercurialisation ; and any : person or persons who may wish to prefer any , objection tothe granting of such letters patent are hereby required to send (within four months from the publication hereof) to John Boyle Bennett, of the oity of Wellington, in the said colony, Esqaire, M.D., being .the person appointed for that purpose under the provisions of the said Act, a statement in \ writing setting forth the grounds of such objection, subscribed with his or their proper names and address.— Autrid Stacy Watson.— Symonda-btreet, < March 25, 1868." Statement* are published of the liabilities and assets and other particulars of the banks doing business in New Zealand.
