ANOTHER RICH QUARTZ CLAIM.
2,6000z. OF GOLD TO THE TON OF QUARTZ. [ Me. Bxetlbtt, a shareholder inMulligan's reef, ' at the Waiotahi, called at our printing-office last evening, with a small ingot of gold obtained from this now famous reef. It will be remembered that for some time past Mulligan's party have been sluicing in the Waiotahi, with variable success, but about two months ago it was determined to discontinue this mode of operation. They accordingly began " a drive," and up to the present time have taken out about two tons of quartz, said to average in richness the specimen assayed. This sample was handed, a few days ago, to Mr. C. Lysnar, assayer, of Albert-street, who has returned the following statement of the rich yield : — Auckland, November 12, 1867. Auriferous Quartz Assay. Mr. Barfclett. 1 sample of quartz assayed : Weight, lib. 4oz ; gold, loz. 9dwt. = 2,5980z. Bdwb. per ton. C. Lysnar, asstyer, Albert-street.
