LAUNCHES. A large schooner named the Onward was successful] j launched at the building-yard of Metira. Bagnall and Sons, of Matakana, on Thursday last, and may be expected to arrive here in a ftw daya.

She has been built to the order of Meamri. Lilewall and Rattray, of this town, and will doubtless prove a handiome addition to our already numerous fleet of coast-built vessels. She is a sitter revel to the smart top-sail schooner Excelsior, owned by the sama firm, and at present on a tnp to Canterbury. The Onward is 70 tons register, aud capable of carding about 120 tons dead weight. She is 70 feet keel, with, a proportionate beam and depth of hold, and is said -to possess very superior sailing capacity, excelling even the former productions <>f her builders. She is at present being rigged and fitted out for sea. A. schooner of largs dimensions will also he launched next week at Messrs. Darrach and and Son's yard at Mahurangi, to the order of the same firm. She is expected to register 100 tons, and to carry a much larger tonnage of dead weight. The builders of the above haye long enjoyed the reputation of turning out vessels of a superior class, which have done credit to our shipbuilding resources in whatever ports they have visited ; and we can confidently predict that these last productions will present improvements over others, and serve to augment their well-merited reputation.
