COMING RETRIBUTION FOR THE REBELS.
We have been credibly informed by a paesenger from Wellington, per h.h. ' Wellington,' which arrived here on the 26fch, that the Government have at last decided that a general and concentrated effort is about to be made to secure the murderers of those of on r fellow settlers who have recently falleu victims of the Hauhaus here and at Opotiki. For this purpose Colonel Whitmoro was apassenser from Wellington to Napier, and is inBtructed to raise forces at .Napier and the Bay of fTenty. The Arawas, as a tribe, will take a prominent part in the expedition, scouring the whole district of the TJriwerat, and once and for ever preventing a repetition of the terrible mastacres which have been committed by these arch-fiends. — Tauranga Record, September 28.
