WEEKLY SUMMARY. Business daring the week has again been very dull, owing to the limited number of foreign arrivals and the prevalence of strong head winds, which caused a temporary suspension of coasting business. The only foreign arrivals have been the brigs Susan and Hebe from Newcastle, N.S.W., and Sydney, the former with a cargo of coals on owners' account, and the latter with coals and bone dust. The Susan arrived on the 12th and the Hebe on the 13th, after rough-weather passages across. The departures have been the schooner General Cameron, Captain Waterman, and brig Bit*, Captain Trayte, for Tahiti and the South Sea Islands, with full tgeneral cargoes; and the P..N.Z., and A.R.M. Company's s.s. liord Ashley, for Southern ports and Melbourne, on the 13th, with general cargo and passengers. Coastwise, we have had the schooner Saucy Lass, from the Bay of Plenty, with produce ; the schooners Tauranga and Mavis, and cutter Sovereign of the Seas, from Tauranga ; the schooner Ivanhoe from Mongonui, with gum and oil ; the ketch Speedwell from the Bay of Islands, and sohooners Argoand Kate Grant from Wangarei, with cattle, 4c. The departures coastwise compriie the aohooner Kenilworth for Kennedy's Bay, schooner Saucy Lmi for Napier, Excelsior for Mercury Bay, Mapere for Mangapai, Mavis for Tauranga, Ac. The schooner Neva sails today for the South Sea Islands. We regret to learn that the smart coasting cutter Alpha, the property of her master, Captain MoHugh, has been driven on the rooks at Ahipara, and become a total wreck, during the severe weather which • prevailed in the early part of the week. Her cargo was saved. The lots will be severely felt by her owner. -^ The new steamer Tauranga, for the Bay of Plenty "Steam Navigation Company, made her trial trip on the waters of theTVKaitemata on Thursday, Am? n ->twithitanding the strong wind which blew, ana the moderate sea on, she accomplished a peed equal to thatdf th<* s.s.jbLwd Ashley under full steam, and waitheTer. headed qyjothk/ latter during a run of twenty minutes' duration. ' She proved an excellent

Roabott, «nd attained * speed of 3| miles in 20 minutes, or 10} (miles an hour. Her revolutioni were 120 to 130 per minute, with a pressure of 2341b. of steam and a raoaam of 20 inches. The schooner Tauranga, so long a regular trader to Tauranga, bas been taken off the berth in order to make room for the new steamer bearing her name. We understand she is about to change hands, and will probably be put on the island trade. A neat addition to our ooaiting fleet arrived in harbour at 11 o'clock on Monday evening, from the builder's yard at Omaha. The new schooner Coquette is recently launched from Mr. Mathesons yard, and is a sister vessel to the favourite sohooner Saucy Lass. Her dimensions are 58 feet length of keel, 18 feet breadth of beam, 7 feet 3 inches depth of hold, and her builder's measure* ment 80 tons. She is fore-and-aft rigged, and supplied with all the latest improvements. The model is in no way inferior to our many coast-built clippers, and will fully maintain the reputation of our building yards wherever the vessel may be called. The schooner is intended for the coasting trade, and is the property of her builder and Captain D. H. McKenzie, of the schooner Saupy Lass. She was brought to port io ballast, in charge of the builder. By our latest advices from Sydney we learn that H.M. i.B. Falcon, Captain Blake, left that port on a cruise on the 26th ultimo. The Sydney Morning Herald thus notices her departure :— " H.M. s.s. Falcon sailed yesterday on a cruise. The crew manned the rigging, and gave three cheers aa they passed H.M. ss. Esk, a compliment that was returned as heartily."
