ARRIVAL OF THE S.S. AIREDALE.

The P., N.Z., and A.R.M. Company's s.s. Airedale, Captain Kennedy, arrived in the Manukau with the Southern mails and passengers yesterday morning, having been detained 24 hours by the Government at Wellington. She reports having left Wellington for Lyttelton on 24th April, and arrived there on the 25 th j left at 6 a.m. on the 27th, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 4 a.m. on the 28bh; left Porb Chalmers at 4.30 p.m. on the 29tb, and arrived at the Bluff on the 30tb ; left the Bluff same day, and arrived at Hokitika on the 2nd instantj left on the 3rd, and arrived at Nelson on the 4th ; left Nelson at 9 p.m. on the 6th, and arrived in Wellington harbour at 11 a.m. on the 7th; left Wellington at 3.15 p.m. on the 9th, having been detained upwards of 24 hours by order of the Government. Arrived at Picton at 8 the same evening, and ■ailed at 3.30 a.m. on the 10th, arriving at Nelson at 1 p.m. the same day; left Nelson at 3 p.m. on the 11th, and arrived atTaranaki at 7 a.m. on Sunday ; ■ailed at 6 p.m., and crossed the Manukau bar at 8 a.m. on Monday. The Airedale has experienced remarkably fine weather during the whole of her trip from the South. The Airedale brings a detachment of 147 men of H.M. 50th Regiment from Taranaki, in command of Captain Doran, which were landed at the new Government wharf yesterday. Wilson, Bruce, Clark, Howard, Biddle, Dundee, Stafford, Stevens, Tizard, Owen, Etherington, Harper, Balfour, Porter, Nazer, Donald McLean, Thompson. Fore-cabin: Mr. and Mrs. McDonald and 4 children, Mr. Buchanan, Mr. Thompson, Mr. Harrison, Mr. and Mrs. Ross, Mr. Turner, 2 grooms; 147 rank and file, 7 women, and 18 children, 50th Regiment. * Cargo: About 60 tons short-landed from Southern ports for Taranaki and Nelson. Shipped at Wellington : 1 case, Union Bank. From Nelson : 1 case, Lusk; 1 box,Braithwaite; 3 horses, Stafford; 1 box, Bank of New Zealand.
