GENERAOT GOVERNMENT GAZETTE
A Gbniril Government Gazette, issued on the 7th instant, contains the warrant, under the Royal ■ign manual, under which the decoration of the Vie. toria Cross may be conferred on persons serving in colonial force* ; despatch from Lord Carnarvon notifying that her Majwtyhad signified her intention of conferrine; the Cross upon Major Heaphy ; and letter from Colonel Haultain, by direction of the Governor, congratulating Major Heapby upon the illustrious distinction he had deservedly earned. The appointment of the Hons. J. C. Richmond and W. Fitzherbert to be Commissioners under the Stamp Duties Act. A warning to all Government servants not to give any information relating to public business, directly or indirectly, to the Press, or any one out of the Btrict course of business. Notifications of the elections of Messrs. H. S. Harrison, P. Dignan, and H. A. Atkinson to the House of Repreientatives. Tenders are called for the performance of the iuterprovincial steam mail services on the East Coaab for six months from the Ist July next. The Gazette also contains notice to mariners relative to Port Natal lighthouse j Supreme Court notices ; and statement of L. OBrien, Esq., Registrar of the Supreme Court, in account with the estate of Thomas Luck, deceased, intestate.
