BRANCH POST-OFFICE.
To the Editor of th« Daily Southern Cross. Sir, — In my frequent journeys to and from the Kyber Pass Road, it has often struck me, looking at the number of houses clustered about its centre, what « boon it would be to the residents if a branch Postoffice were to be established there. Parties living in that locality ate compelled to go either to Nevrmarket or Ptinoes-street for their letters } nor can they post one nearer than the first-mentioned place or the Windmill. It struck me last night, on returning from my usual evening rounds, that the grocer's shop directly opposite the Stockade would bean admirable position for a new branch. To the Governor of the Gaol, his subordinates, and the imprisoned debtors, it would be a positive blessing, whilst the gentry and merchants, &c, living within three-quarters of a mile city side, including our respected Resident Magistrate, would doubtless hail its establishment with feelings of satisfaction. I merely throw out the hint, leaving it to others better qualified than myself to continue the discussion of the subject, should it proye worthy discussing at all. — Yours, &c, T. B. Hannafoed. High -street, Auckland, March 29, 1867.
