THE WHAU.
A.T a public meeting, held on the 27th March, at the house of Mr. Bollard, at the Whau, Mi*. Buchanan in the chair, it was proposed and seconded that Mr. 0. A. JRayson act as (Secretary, which waa carried. It was then proposed and seconded that Mr. Bollard act as Treasurer pro tern. It was proposed by Dr. Aickin, and seconded, " That a public hall be erected, and a committee of six person* and a chairman be elected, \rith power to add to their number, to carry out thi» object." The motion -was carried. Mr. Bollard proposed, "That Mr. Samson, Mr. GittoH, Mr. Bollard, Mr. David Henderson, Mr. Hblloway, and Mr. O. A. Eayson be appointed a committee to raise subscriptions." The resolution was carried. It yr&s then proposed by Dr. Aickih, and seconded,' " That the Treasurer be empowered to receive subscriptions, in any sums, for this object.", The resolution was agreed to. Mr. Eayson proposed, and it was duly seconded, "That three trustees be appointed, to whom the conveyance of a site for a public hall be made." Carried. On the motion of Mr. Cook it was resolved, "That Dr. Aickin, Mr. Bollard, and Mr. Buchanan be elected trustees." A vote of thanks to the chairman was then passed. Subscriptions to the amount of £40 were received in the room. — [From a correspondent.]
