Midden Plate: Foor hones started for this event, vis., Robin Hood, Sauntrie, Tomboy, and Willow Holmes* > The raoing wis left to Tomboy and Sauntrie, the former proving an eaiy winner. Wairarapa Stakes: Volunteer, 1; Policy, 2; Ke« cruit, 3 j Rangitoto, 4. The Licensed' Victuallers' Cup 1 ; heats: Otto, 1 ; Policy, 2;Rangitoto, 3. The Ladies' Pune: The racing between Tomboy and Native was truly first-class, but Tomboy in botn heats secured a hard-won victory. • ■A. Hack R*ce, for which twelve entered, and which was won in both heata by Greathcad'a Kitty, concluded the events of the day.
" Sjoowd Day. ' The best-contested race of the^day wan the Hurdle Ifcoe, ill which, the winners . were : Trooper, 1 ; Recruit, 2}2 } and Native,, (Mr. J: Day's), 3. In,the Jockey Cup PUte the following entered anl came past the'irinning«post in, the order named : Volunlieer.'lTomboy, and Policy. Several accidents o.ccurred on the course in the shape of collisions an<J spills ; no lives were lost, but several horaea hurt.
