GOVERNMENT LAND SALE.
A sal* of town, snbarban, and special rural land •was held at the Waste Lands Office, yesterday, Major Heaphy actiog ai auctioneer. Three lots were exposed for sale in the town of Mercer, Point Russell, Waikato River, and were disposed of as follow :— Lot 6, 1 rood, upset price £12 105., sold at £12 15s. to Dr. Corbett ; lot 8, 1 rood, upset price £12 105. , sold at £13 to Mr. W. Aitkin ; lot 13, 1 rood, sold at npset £12 10s., to Mr. W. Aitkin. Lot 18, village of Otau, parish of Taupo, county of Eden, 3a. Or. 14p,, upset £9 65., advanced to £34, at which it was knocked down to Mr. Thomas Hyde. There were 96 suburban lots near Newcastle, Waikato, exposed, but none were sold, owing, there can be little doubt, to the ■mallness of the lots, the average size being about five, acres. Two suburban allotments in the Tnhimata block, parish of Opaheke, were sold — Lot 8, 2a. Or. 13p., at £6 4s. lid. (upset), to the Rev. J. MoEntegart ; lot 49, 13a. 3r. 5p., at £41 10a. (upset), to Mr. James Moran. Two lots in the Maketu block were not sold. Four lots in the lhumatao block, parish of Mannrewa, were sold as follow : —Lot 1, 53a., npset '£26s, sold at £385, to Mr. Samuel Fleming ; lot 2, 54a., upset £270, sold at £425, to Mr. John Robinson; lot 11, 48a., upset £240, sold at £300, to Mr. A. Wallace; lot 15, 22a., upset £110, sold at £240, to . Mr. Samnel Fleming. A single lot of rural land in, the Tuhimata block was not sold. Parish of Waipipi — lot 99, 87a., sold at upset, £87, to Mr. John Wilson ; l«t 125, 27a., sold at upset, £27, to Mr. A. MoLaucblin. Of fourteen lots in the Ararimu block, there were sold— lot 101, 100 a., sold at £102, to Mr. J. Bonn;, lot 102, 100 a., sold at £102, v to Mr. Laughlin Keeney; lot 103, 300 a., sold at upset, £300, to Mr. dohn Markham.
