AUCKLAND LIVE STOCK MARKET. (Report for the week ending August 3.)

MB. BITCKLAND'S BEPOBT.' At th« Haymarket, on Saturday Ittt, fodder was in fall supply, and in demand. Best hay was no better worth, but second-class quality sold more freely. Maize brought Cs. the bushel, and a large quantity ibid. Not many horses brought forward ; prices are nominal for this description of stock. The smaller of the two farms advertised was sold at 375. an acre. Thorley'i food, 355. the cast. At Otahuhu, on Tuesday, there was a larger muster than usual of stock, principally cows, of large frame, but in low condition ; they brought from £8 10s. to £12 2s. 6d., averaging £0 each. At the Newmarket yards, on Thursday, dairy cows were in good muster, and sold freely, particularly those at calving. Few store cattle offered. Working oxen brought £30 the pair. Fat cattle were in usual supply— about 70 head ; prices were higher than last week, and all penned sold freely, bringing about 455. the 1001b. Fat sheep were in short supply, and higher prices were obtained for them, Leicester wethers bringing from 403. to 445. ; merinoes, 245. to 325. each. Pigs of good quality for slaughter were in short supply; young pigs were plentiful ; Ml sold freely. The Fapakura sale steadily increases, both in the number of stock sent for sale and the attendance of settlers ; and there is but little difference in the prices obtained from those at Newmarket. MB. BUOKLAND'S BIPOBT. At the JTaymarket on Saturday last fodder was in usua supply, and without alteration in price, bringing 4s. 9d. and Ss. per cwt. ; maize, 6s. the bushel. Horse stock offered in limited numbers, and sales were more free. Best draught wer« in better inquiry, the highest price obtained, £45, showing a considerable advance on the prices ruling for some time past. At the Triangle on Tuesday there wai a good competition for the cows ex • Star of the South.' They were quiet, and of large frame, and brought an average of £9 7s. At Newmarket on Thursday fat cattle were in usual supply, of good quality and generally heavy weights. Last week's rates ruled. Few store cattle offered. The ewes and lambs brought 30s. each ewe. Fat sheep pens all filled, but many pens of indifferent quality : for those there was no sale, and they were passed. Well-fatted sheep were in demand, and last week's adranc* sustained. Very few pigs brought forward.

HUNTER AND CO.'S REPORT. We have t* report that, at our yards, on Monday, fat cattle were in fair supply : prices ruled about 455. the 1001b. The^ supply of good qualities is short of the requirements. Store cattle were in good supply, and brought high rates. Th» demand still continues great for young stock. Dairy cows: There was a large show of this class of stock. Good cows near calving *r« much in demand, and bring high rates— from £17 to £23 each. Sheep Market.— W« had alarge market of fat sheep, both of half-breds and Merinoei ; prices were good. A lot of medium quality half-breds, from Wanganui, ranged from 265. to 335. each ; Merino provincial-fattened medium qualities, from 225. to 235. 6d. »ach ; lambs, from 10s. 6d. to 19s. Cd. each. Figs were U good supply— on* superior animal brought £7 105.; some others, £4 10s. each. Otahuhu Sal*.— There was a fair show at this market of ■tore cattle and dairy cows ; they sold freely, and brought about the same prices as at Newmarket. House Market. — "We bad * large show of horses at our yards on Saturday, principally light-harness and saddle horses ; prices, we consider, wer» % shade better than what they have been for some weeks past. There is considerable demand at present for good light-harneu and saddle horses From 50 to 60 head were sold. A few medium draught horses brought fair prices. Hay amd Grain Market.— During the wtek we sold the ' Zillah's ' cargo of maizt from Tahiti, at ss. 6d. par bushel ; Sydney maize, from 6s. to 6s. 3d. per bushel ; feed oats, 65. : seed oats, 7s. Cd. per bushel ; meadow hay, §A 10s. to £5 per ton.
