PRESENTATION TO COLONEL MOULD; R.E., C.B.

A pbesentation to the above-named gentleman took place yesterday evening, in tlie vestry of St. Paul's Church, in the presence of the following vestrymen and churchwardens : —the Hon. J. A. Gilfillan, M.L.0., Mr. Hamley, Mr. Lewis, Mr. Winstanley, Mr. Hammond, and Mr. Rathborre. The Venerable Archdeacon Lloyd, addressing Colonel Mould, said : Sir, the Vestry of Sfc. Paul's Church, being desirous of giving expression of their regret at losing your valuable services, and also of testifying to the respect which they entertain for you, are solicitous to present you with some testimonial for the very many and valued services which you have rendered to this church. In all these feelings of appreciation for your worth I cordially agree, both as a private individual and as pastor of this church. As there unfortunately is not time to procure a suitable testimonial in Auckland, the Vestry, at its last meeting, held on Saturday last, drew ap and adopted the following resolution, which I will read to you : — Resolved : That the Vestry, being informed that Colonel Mould is about to leave the colony for England in a few days, desire before his departure to give expression to their respect and esteem for himself personally, to their sense of the kind and cooperative spirit in which he has worked with them during the nine years that he has been a member of the Vestry, and to their appreciation of his many and valuable services ; the pariah being indebted to him for the plans and specifications of the extensive alterations made in the church in the year 1863, as well &t for his careful superintendence of the work while under execution, and for many other services. Resolved further : Thab many of the parishioners being desirous of uniting with the Vestry in some expression, of their regard for Colonel Mould, but being pressed for time, owing to his speedy departure, an addresß and testimonial from the Vestry and parishioners be forwarded to him to England, in recognition of the esteem in which he has been held and of the services which he has rendered to the pariah. " Colonel Mould said he trusted the Vestry would believe him when he told them how greatly affected he had felt himself on Saturday, when the Venerable Archdeacon Lloyd had told him that his presence was required on Monday evening in the Vestry, for the purpose of receiving an address. He could hardly express his feelings upon receiving such a hand-

some testimonial from the Vestry; and lie trusted they would allovr him a short breathingtime to collect his thoughts a little, in order that he might give expression to his feelings on the subject. What he had done for the church had been for the benefit of the parish, and he was only too happy to find that his humble services had been appreciated. He was sure lie would always recollect his connection with St. Paul's parish with the most grateful feelings ; and the testimonial which had been so kindly accorded to him for services which he had heartily rendered, in accordance with his duty, would ever be cherished by Mm. With the permission of the gentlemen present, he would return, his thanks upon paper. (Applause.) After a short discussion, in which Mr. Hamlet, the Hon. J. A. Gilfillan, and others took part, it was determined that the subscriptions raised towards the testimonial should be forwarded to Colonel Mould's agents, Messrs. Cox and Co., London, and be expended by ■ Colonel Mould in the purchase of some suitable article to serve as a memento of his connection with St. Paul's Church. Tlig members of the Vestry then present wished " Grod-speed " to the gallant Colonel and family on their homeward trip, and the proceedings terminated. j
