PHEASANTS.

Orrn correspondent, " Old Cock," reminds us of a duty we had only imperfectly discharged, namely, informing the public that the shooting season opens on the Ist of May, and not on the Ist of April, as on former years. We had already called attention to this fact ; but, inasmuch as we have reason to believe that an endeavour will be made to evade the law, by persons who make a trade of shooting pheasants, and by others who ought to act differently, we deem it right once more to warn all such of the penalties they incur by shooting before the Ist of May. The season is quite as long as before the amendment of the law ; the only difference being, that it begins a month later, and that the sport will be better, the birds having a chance of arriving at maturity. We appeal to all owners of land, and true lovers of Bport, to assist, as far as they can, in giving effect to the law. We are obliged to " Old Cock" for renewing this subject.
