DUNEDIN.

There Las been an increased amount of activity perceptible in this day's business, and though no heavy operations have transpired, numerous trade parcels for town and country requirements have occupied the attention of wholesale houses. Advices from Melbourne, which are favourable to the holders of various goods, have imparted a firmer tone to the market in teas, oilmen's stores, and provisions. With respect to flour, the intelligence to hand has not affected the value, which continues as before, with no disposition in the face of present light stocks to force sales. Some attention was devoted to Messrs. McLandress, Hepburn, and Co.'s clearing sale of beers, at Messrs. Dalgetty, Kattray, and Co.'s stores — the major portion of the bulk beers offered being old shipments ; the values realised were below market quotations, but for the new shipments rates were ootained about equal to market values. Driver, Maclean, and Co. held their usual sale of wool and sheepskins, at their wool warehouses, High-street, yesterday. The sale was by far the most spirited held during the season, and all the lots offered were keenly competed for ; prices obtained showing an advance of Id. to lAd. per lb. on their late sales. The catalogue comprised 370 bales of scoured, -washed, and greasy sorts, all of which — with the exception of one very superior lot of 71 bales washed fleece withdrawn, pending instructions from the owners, and to be offered at next week's sales — found buyers at prices ranging as follow :—: — viz., Greasy fleece, 9fd. to 12^d. per lb. ; greasy fleece, half -bred, 12|d. to 13|d. per lb. ; washed fleece, Is. s|d. to Is. 7^d. ; scoured skin wool, 21d. —Daily Times, February 10.
