ARMY AND NAVY RECORD.

An order has been received at the camp at Colchester permitting soldiers to volunteer into any of the regiments now stationed in New Zealand — viz , the 2nd battalion 18th, and the 40th, 67th, and 70th Regiments. All men who volunteer and are found fit for actual service will receive the usual bounty of £1. A number of men from the different depots at Colchester have come forward for service in the colony. Captain Jones, of the 97th, has received orders to join the service companies of that corps, and Captain Pocklington, of the 2nd battalion sth Regiment, will join the depot companies. Silver medals for long service and good conduct have been presented at the camp to the following nou. commissioned officers and privates .—. — Privates Burrugn and Crookshanks, of the 44th; Sergernt Pearson and Private Lovelock, of the 97th ; and Sergeant Craig, of the Army Hospital Corps. These medals are in some instances accompanied by gratuities of £10 and £5, They were presented by Colonel Guy, C.8., commondant of the troops in camp. —Times, August 12.

Yesterday afternoon, at two o'clock, two hundred men of the Second Class Militia mustered i-j the Albert Barrack Square, under orders to pro cced to Otahubu. They were under the oom'nand of Colonel Nation, and Captains Dinnin -and Macfarlane, Lieutenants Holden and Heron, and Ensigns Ring and Jackaon. After being forced into five companies, and put through a few movements, they were formed into coluir,n, then into fours right, and marched through Parnell, on their way to the camp. The Rifl e Volunteer Band preceded them a short distance, and played lively quick-marches. A large numbf .r of persons, principally females, (the wives of the Militiamen) gathered in the Barrack Square, and ws.tched the movements preparatory to the start with the greatest interest. At several places on the line of route the men were heartily cheered, to which they responded with equal spirit. - Seventeen privates and non-commissioned officers of the Auckland Volunteer Cavalry Corps were employed as escorts to the front yesterday. Fifteen men of the second company Auckland Naval Volunteers -went on board the ' Sandfly yesterday, bound for the Wairoa.
