Wb have been informed that the various banks m Auckland have agreed to discontinue tha practice of paying interest on current accouuts, from aud after the Ist clay of May next. Mr. Samuel Coclnano sold yesterday, at Custom House-street, the whole of the cargo of Oregon clear pine timber, ex ' Dominga/ from Puget'a Sound, for account of Messrs. Henderson and Macfarlane. The prices obtained were from 16s. 9d. to 2os. The attendance good, and bidding brisk. The good price realized for this timber is principally owing to the present great scarcity of the article in the market, the late long continued drought having almost brought most of our mills to a stand still.
