THE WATER SUPPLY.
To the Editor of the Daily Southern Cms. •Sir, — Seeing a import in your paper that the Demesne •springs are to be taken to supply Auckland with water, and that a number of peisons have been examined upon the subject, I connider I am as competent as any person in the province to give an opinion on the matter. It i> upwawls of twenty yeais since I first came to reside in Mechanics' Bay, and remained there for a peiiod of fifteen yeaiß, and to think of supplying the city of Auckland from that nource is a great mistake. I hope the Provincial Government will not commit so gross an error. There is & sufficiency of water to Kupply the military, but nothing like an adequate supply for the wants of the city. — I letnain, your*, &c , James Robertson. Mangarie, April 3, 1803.
