ARRIVAL OF THE 'GERTRUDE.'

Wk announced in yesterday's edition the arrival of the ship 'Gertrude' 1,300 tons, Captain J. C. Oongdou from London, but were unable to give a statement of her passage, with names of passengers and mauifest. We now supply the particulars She left the docks on the Ist November, and weighed anchor from Gravesend on the 4th. Sailed from the Downs on the 7th and took leave of Start Light, bearing N.N.E. 14 miles, on the 12th. Heavy gales of wind were here experienced: but afterwards ■ucceeded by variable weather. Sailed outside Cape de Verd Islands, and on the 27th the Island of Antonio was sighted bearing E by N. 30 miles. The ship ' City of Alberas ' from Glasgow, bound to Calcutta was spoken with same day iv lat. 15* 57' N. , long. 25° 31' W. On the 29th signalled a Dutch barque from Amsterdam. Severe w eather was met with on the 3rd December. On the 7th spoke the barque 'Cornwallis 72 days from Madras, bound for London. The S.E. trades were struck in about 3* 46' N. lat., the equator being crossed on the 7th December in long. 23° W. The trades were lost in about 28* 45' S. lat On the 2(ith December passed the meridian of the Cape of Good Hope : the easting being run down in 45° to 454° S. lat. During the early part of January heavy weather mas met with, the vessel straining heavily and shipping large quantities of water. On the 6th Februaiy boaided the • Bengalean ' from Melbourne, 12 days out, bound for Callao, and at S a.m, on the same day made the land of New Zealand about 00 miles south of Cape Maria Van Diemen. Sailed down the coast with light winds and tine weather, and came to an anchor in the harbour about 9 o'clock on the night of Monday last. There were six deaths on boaid and one birth. The general health of the passengers throughout the voyage was good ; and the ship comes into port iv a very cleanly and creditable condition in every respect. The kiud and courteous attention of the Captain and officers to the wants of the passengers during the voyage has not been allowed to pass without a warm acknowledgment as the following testimonials will prove : — Ship ' Gertrude,' Auckland, New Zealand, Feb. 10, 1863. The passenger ships 'Devonshire' and 'Gertrude' ' aro using dispitch iv tho landing of their pas«engers. The barque ' Alice Cameron 'is announced to sail for Sydney this day. Tho cutter 'Betsy' is announced to mil this day from the Mannkan, at 2 p.m., for Waiukn. The cutter ' Thistle' arrived at Onelumga yesterday from Raglan and Kawhia. The barque ' Blundoll ' entered outwards at the Cu.stom-House on the 27th September, and not the day before Railing. H. M. S. S. 'Miranda,' Captain Jenkins, sailed yesterday morning far Syduey, carrying a supplemental mail for England. The ' Osprey ' schooner, Captaiu Rogere, cleared, yesterday for the Islands, and was to sail this morning. She proceeds to Itorotouga direct. The cutter 'Kate, 1 Auld master, sailed from Onohunga yesterday for New Plymouth, with 300 bushels oats, 9 tons flour, and suudries. The barque 'Nightingale' has now definitely changed hands, and holds her legister from the port o£ Aucklaud ; and iv place of the American •tars and stripes will hoist the old English ensign. We congratulate her present owners, Messrs. Henderson and Mticfarlaue, in uecuring so fine a vessel to add to their inoreasing fleet. By those who are well able to judge, she is deemed a very handy and well found oraft, and equal in hor fittings and accommodations to any vessel of her size that has come to this port. As such we wish her every success.
