The ' Sftlcombe Castle,' from Sydney, was signalled during the greater part of yesterday evening, but had not fetched her anchorage at a late hour. A ship, supposed to be the ' Northumberland,' from London, with passengers and cargo, was signalled on Sunday, but towards evening stood out to sea, and was not again sighted up till we went to press. The ' Pole Star,' Captain Sullivan, arrived last evening, after a run of four days, from Napier. She brings three passengers, but no cargo. By the ' Pole Star' we have dates to the sth inst There is no news of political import from Hawke's Bay. A rather smart shock of an earthquake was felt in Napier on the night of Monday week. The harbour is to be greatly improved by the provincial government.
