PROVINCIAL GAZETTE.

A Gazette was published on Tuesday. Notice of a sale of geneial country land, at the Waste Lands' Office at Auckland, on the 7th January next is published. The lot 3 to be sold are fifty-five in number, comprising from 40 to 310 acres each, in the County of Eden, parish of Waitakerei ; and lot No. 1, of 220 acres, in the County of Mongonui, parish of Muriwhenua. Charles John Taylor is gazetted as having been duly elected a member of the Provincial Council for the Southern Division. Eeturns of all lands sold at the Waste Lands offices, at Auckland and Mongonui, from the Ist of August to the 30th September, are published. During the month of August theie was sold at Auckland 2487 a. Or. 38p.; for which £129 105. cash and £40 scrip were paid, and land orders representing 21G0 acres exercised. During September 1913 a. 2r. 17p. were sold; for which £178 cash was paid, and land orders representing 1240 acres exercised. During the two months, there was sold at Mongonui, 685 acres • cash payment, £62 10s; land orders, 560 acres. The quantity of land open for selection, at Auckland and Mongonui respectively, on the 30th September, waa 53,683 and 9,242 acres. Rifle Shooting. — The shooting for Dr. Campbells pouch and belt is going on. The highest score so far has been made by Mr. Stewart, surveyor, of the City Company, who scores 1 2 points. The remaining competitors must look to their sights carefully, if they wish to carry off the prize.
