Last Tuesday's cattle sale was well attended, and a considerable number of stock were disposed of. Mr. Alfred Buckland sold twenty head of fat cattle at an average of £9 ss. Several head of store stock were quitted at late prices. Two dairy cows fetched £10 fls. and £J2 e*ch, For fat sheep, an advance was obtained on the previous week's prices : Ninety fat wethers, from Taranaki, averaged 325. 7d. ; fifty. four ewes (some with lambs) sold at 325. each. A bay draught colt was sold for £40 ; two riding horses at £17 and £24 10s ; and a grey colt (unbroken) for £21. A mare, dog cart, and harness were disposed of privately for £70. At the weekly cattle sale held, at Newmarket, by Mr. Wm. Hunter, on Tuesday last, cattle were not brought forward in such quantities as was expected, the attendance of buyers also was not so large as on the previous week. Fat cattle scarcely maintained previous prices ; they were sold from £9 7s. 6d. to £8 2s. 6d. Store stock continue to bring fair prices. Dairy cows were sold from £15 to £10 10s. Horses brought £9 fis. to £18 ; and a team of two horses and dray £150 ; and furf >ur working bullocks brought £60.
