Gentlemen,— l haie had the honoi to receue your v^ry flattering mi it.ition, to allow nn self to be put in nomination for the Office ot Supeuntemlent of the Province of Auckland, and I have to thank, you for the manner in which you have testified your appioval of my fidministirttion of the affairs o I the Pro\mce of Now Ulster, dniing the period for which I had the honor to hold the office of Liei:tenant-Go\ernor. 1 ha\e not been insensible, Gentlemen, ot the importance to the Prounce, of securing if possible for the administration of its affairs, a candidate in whose behalf, the sympathies of men of all classes, and all political ue«s may be united, neither ]\a\e I been lightly disposed to esteem the honor which will be conferred' upon him who may be the subject ot their choice.
