Downing-street, 6th Jun, 1855.
Sir, — I have to acknowledge the receipt of Colonel Wynyard's despatch, marked separate, of the 24th of January last, repotting his having resigned the office which he held of Superintendent of the Province of Auckland, and enclosing a copy of a resolution of the Provincial Council, on the occasion, and also of his address on proroguing that body. In l'eply, I have to express my satisfaction at the good understanding which appears to have existed between Colonel Wynyard and the Provincial Council, over which he presided, as evinced by the tone of the Resolution. I have the honour, &c, (Signed.) J. Russell. Governor Gore Biowne. &c.
