Friday, August 31. The House met pursuant to adjournment. Reply to Addrtsi. The Spbaker announced that, in company with Messrs. Connell and Gilfillan, he had that morning presented the reply to his Honor's address. No. 12 — Haying reference to the Assistant Treasury Clerk heing styled in future the Audit Clerk. Harbour Land Act. Mr. Powditch's motion for leave to hring in a Bill to amend the "Harbour Land Act" lapsed, from the absence of the hon. member. Petition of John Makepeace. Mr. A. O'Neill, pursuant to notice, rose to n.ove " That the petition presented from Mr. John Makepeace be printed. Alteration in Standing Pules. Mr. Gilfillan, pursuant to notice, rose to move "That Standing Rules No. 35 and No. 83 be referred to the Com mittee on Standing Rules and Orders, with the view of such alterations therein being considered as shall tend to promote the despatch of business by the Council. Mr. Boylan, pursuant to notice, rose to move " Tha( the petition presented by him from 74 discharged noncommissioned officers and soldiers be referred to a Select Conynittee, consisting of Messrs. Mr. Gilfillax, pursuant to notice, tOke to move "Thai clause 9 of the Report of the Finance Committee, be communicated to his Honor, as having been adopted as a Resolution of the Council." Agreed to. 4 Appropriation Bill. The Council resolved itself into a Committee, for the 'consideration of the estimates. Superintendent's Department. Audit Clerk, £250. Mr. Gilfillan moved, as an amendment, that the salary of the Audit Clerk be £300. Agreed to. Waste Land Board. Chief Commissioner, also Commissioner of Crown Lands, £400. Mr. A.
