BORNEO.

Sarawak seems to be flourishing under the regime of Sir James Brooke. Its trade is rapidly increasing. In 1853 it amounted to close upon one million of dollars, and, judging from the rate ot increase in previous years, it must in 1854 have reached at least a million and a half, or more probably two millions of dollars. The inhabitants are contented and prosperous under the rule of their English Rajah, and their neighbouring tribes are beginning to lay aside their predatory habits, and follow the less exciting pursuits of trade and cultivation.
