Feilding Discussion On
Country Quota Issue
FEILDING, October 26.
The contention that the time for mass meeting and protests was past and that definite action was required was tue basis of discussion at a special meeting held in Feilding today of members ot the combined committees of the 1-eliding branches of the Federated liarniers. Tne meeting was called to consider the steps to be taken to combat the abolition ot the country quota. Mr R. 11. Buehanan. president of tin. Feilding Branch of the Federated I‘armors. presided. He moved the following motion: “That the Feilding branch • the Federated Fanners expresses the strongest objection to the undemocrauc •iction of the Government in introducing a measure to abolish the country quoin without first placing the issue before t.ie electors at a general election or nJ wav of referendum. Me call on Hommiol) headquarters to place our views before the Prime Minister and demand tnai proper constitutional steps be taken to have the issue decide! b.Yclecto’s under the present law. I ailing this, we are compelled reluctantly to pledge our support to direct or any action the Dominion president decides to Just. The motion was seconded by Mr. V. B. Short ami ev-ried.
