Housing Problem
Sir. —There must bo thousands of tents lying idle in New Zealand, and there must be thousands of people who would rather live in a tent (which can he made very comfortable with a wooden floor to it) than live with others in overcrowded rooms and apartments. Would it not be wise for the city authorities or other interested bodies to investigate or locale some of these very useful things in times of great emergency? The summer is fast approaching, and many young folk could, if they liked the life or were willing to sacrifice their own rooms, live happily aud healthily for at least three months of the summer season. If the scheme was started now, and folk contacted who would be willing to let their sections, needy people might, if they liked gardening, grow enough vegetables to last them over the summer. Isn’t this a time when we should do unto others what we would like done for ourselves if we were so placed?—l am. etc., RENNIE. Wellington. .September 22.
