Track Work At Awapuni Dominion Special Service. PALMERSTON N„ September 4. The tracks at Awapuni are still in a heavy condition, and with the poles on the course proper over GOft. out, the times registered this morning were slow. Awapuul trainers have been unfortunate with the weather of late, and the majority of the horees are not as forward as usual at this stage of the season. Sonic fine weather is needed to dry the tracks out. . Speed King and Tahll took 1.18 to run five furlongs. Kaltoa and Aiethea registered 44 3-5 for three furlongs. Aiethea IS coining along nicely and Kaltoa liqs seldom looked better., Purple Dawn had the two-year-old Yalta as a companion in a three-furlong dash which was run in 43. Jumping aU'iiy from the. seven-furlong barrier, Controller ran to the three furlongs in 57. Red Glare ran the last three furlongs of a round in 48. Vivid Night was brought over from Feildlng for a gallop and was matched with Langue d’Or over five furlongs. The latter was doing the better at the end in 1.18 1-5. Lord Bradbury ran five furlongs in even time. Merger was too good for Tld-apa at the end of six furlongs in 1.32 2-5. Merger is now being trained by E. Baker, who has been granted a trainer’s licence. Specialist and Kelinont ran half a mile in 60. Dutch Mary and Persuade galloped three furlongs in 44 1-5, and in a similar trial Yasda and Renascor registered 45 4-5. Reversion and Solver came home from the seven furlongs in 1.40, the last three taking 4(1. Happy Climax also ran seven furlongs, returning 1.50, the last three in 47. She le doing well. Lady‘Spiral could have' improved On the 1.10 it'took her to cover five furlongs. The two-year-old Scroll ran from the seven, furlong harrier to the four in 47. Trtniello and Fen ran five furlongs in 1.10 4-5. Gyration went from the six-furlong post to the three in 44 3-5.

The best five-furlong gallop of tho morning was credited to Theolateral and Czarina, who returned 1 14. Colonel Boaey and Gay Rouen gave a splendid display over eight hurdles, despite the greasy conditions. Peach. King was schooled over four hurdles aud gate a good exhibition. W. J.
