CHINESE SHOPS TO CLOSE
Three Days’ Celebration
When it was decided yesterday by the Chinese Retailers’ Association. Wellington, to close all Chinese greengrocers for three days to celebrate the victory over the Japanese, many people rang the mayor, Mr. Appleton, who got in touch with Mr. Wang Feng, the Chinese Con-sul-General.
As a result of his representations, the greengrocers have agreed to open today and carry heavy stocks so that people may purchase requirements to see them over till next Monday. The shops: will be closed tomorrow. Friday, and Saturday.
