Beautiful Buttons.

A button collection that revealed types of art applied to dress decoration was recently displayed in New York. Many of the buttons were beautififl enough 'o be brooches. There were Wedgwood buttons, some of hand-painted china, some of carved Bohemian glass. An interesting group simulated the millefletir idea that is usually interpretM in paperweights. Silver-mounted buttons set with ivory miniatures were fashioned to hold perfume; these were made in Genoa in 1780. A series of metal buttons were carved in characters from the theatre and opera. The owner recently enlarged her collection with three hand-painted miniatures encircled in frames of French paste, found by her son, who is a sergeant. stationed in France.
