Searchlights and two-way radio communications were usijd in the Mi » atu Gorge throughout last night to help continue work in clearing the railway line which was covered by a large slide of earth on Sunday. With the aid of the searchlight equipment which was transported from Trentham military camp, the work proceeded. The . powerful beams were directed from vehicles on the roadway in the gorge across the river on to the face of the cliff, whore raiway workmen were further aided by portable lights powered by electricity generated from railway department apparatus. To maintain communication between the parties of the road and at the slip, and to give warning of any approaching danger, a two-day radio unit was in constant use.
