C.O.’S APPEAL

Statement By Revision Authority

(Dy Tolptxranh Press Association.! PALMERSTON N., July 27.

The following statement was made by the (Revision Authority, 'Mr. Woodward, S.M.. today :-—“I read in "The Dominion' of July 24 a report that the Wellington Waterside Workers’ Union officially supported an appeal for the release from defaulters’ detention of Robert 'William Final! before this authority.

“In view of the wording of that report it appears necessary to make it clear that the evidence of Messrs. O’Donnell and Deary was admitted, not as being that of officials of the union, but as that of persons who stated that, having personal knowledge of the applicant, they were able to testify to views they had heard him express concerning participation in war. The views of the organization in regard to Finall’s application, or of any organization in regard to nny application before the tribunal are irrelevant, the question for decision being whether the applicant’s objection is a conscientious one.”
