Exhibition of war paintings by 2nd N.Z.E.F. official artist, Lt. A. B. Barns-Graham, depicting Kiwis in the Pacific. Central Public Library, Mercer Street: Open 9.30 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturdays 9.30 a.m. to 12.30 p.m. Extensive reference library, with separate commercial and technical department for engineering, business, trades, etc.; New Zealand and line arts section. Lending mid children’s libraries.

United States Information Library, 7 Woodward Street. Open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. nn Monday to Friday inclusive, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday. Reference library about the United States, including information service and reading room with American Government publications, bonks, pamphlets ami magazines. Zoo, Newtown Park: Open 9 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Sundays, 10 a.m. to 4.30 p.m. Lions, tigers, monkeys, camels and deer; 1500 birds. Admission free to children under 15.

Otari Open Air Plant Museum, one mile from Wndestown tram terminus. Open continuously. Typical New Zealand bush mid native plants under natural conditions; complete collection of plants native to New Zealand; burial ground of Dr. Cockayne, famous New Zealand botanist.
