Dividends Declared The Bank of New Zealand has declared: an interim dividend of 3 per cent, on ordinary shares, payable on December L The half-yearly dividend on D Long-Term Mortgage shares will also be paid on the same date at the rate of 7* per cent, per annum, less security charges. Australian Consolidated Industries have declared an interim dividend of 31 per cent: on ordfnary shares and a half-year-ly dividend of 4J per cent, on preference shares, payable on December -13. Gillespie’s Beach Year The annual report of Gillespie’s Beach Gold Dredging Co., Ltd., for the year ended .Tune 30, states that a net profit of £2070 was earned, compared with £249 in the previous year. Gold export tax was £2127. Duriilg the year the dredge treated 637,550yd5. for a return of 141 Soz.. valued-.at £13,077. compared with 567.632 yds. yielding 10700 z., valued at £10.045 for the preceding year. In July the directors inspected the claim and decided to returrf south and dredge the limited area of virgin ground. This area was estimated, to take three or four months to work out, after which the position would have to be further considered. Harland & Wolff Accounts The accounts of Harland and Wolff, Ltd., for UM3 show a profit, before providing for depreciation, of £1.235,110. compared with £5)90,329 in 15)42. Dividends and interest on in vestments totalled £15,706 (£15.697). and there was a balance of profit on settlement of certain contracts completed in 1941. and 1942 amounting to £.*i50.062, making a total available of £l,630,878. The sum of £709,554 has been provided for taxation on profits to date and interest credited to the trustees of the staff pension fund, and £400,000 (same) set aside for depreciation. It is proposed to provide £200,000 toward excess cost of wartime capital expenditure and make a contribution of £lOO,OOO to staff pension, fund, leaving, with £87,066 brought in w £308,290. The directors recommend dividends of 6 per cent., less tax. on both the “A” ordinary shares and -t'B” ordinary stock, and £94,157 is carried forward. Similar dividends were paid for the three previous years. Gold Mining Associated Gold Dredges return last \?oek was 154 ounces for 3551 hours from 79,650 yards.
