FREE AMBULANCE
Voluntary Aid Scheme Sneaking at a board meeting of the Wellington Free Ambulance yesterday, the superintendent. ,Jlr. R. Olen, mentioned the formation of a men’s auxiliary, composed of honorary ambulance workers who were prepared to devote a considerable portion of their spare time to the work. Mr. A. Stone bad beeu elected president of the auxiliary service aud Mr. G. A. Howau honorary secretary. Mr. Olen forecast an increase of £5OOO in the annual revenue. He said that this increase would come if , a scheme for house-to-house collection could be put into operation by members of the staff during their free time. He added that he did not think bis estimate of £5OOO was any exaggeration. The board decided to adopt the scheme. The deputy chairman, Mr. It. L. Button, announced the gift to the ambu- ‘ lance by a board member, Mr. <7. W. Andrews, of ten new ambulance kits of an improved type. Mr. Olen stated that these would have cost the board about £OO to purchase.
