TRAIN DERAILED
Slip On Johnsonville Line At approximately 8.30 last night one of the electric units on the JohnsonvilleWellington railway line was derailed as a result of its running into a slip that had fallen across the line. Passengers were fortunate in that the derailed coaches did not approach the edge of the steep bank that falls away oji the north side of the track. The last coach remained on the line, and no casualties were reported. The accident occurred just outside the fifth and last tunnel from Wellington, and it is expected that it will cause considerable delay to the normal traffic on that line. Provision was made last night for passengers normally making use of the electric unit to be conveyed to their destinations in railway buses, and as there is a likelihood that the line will not be cleared by the time the morning rush hour service begins, arrangements have been made to continue the relieving bus service. However, because of the shortage of buses, it is doubtful whether the temporary service will be able to cope with the heavy traffic coming from the north-western suburbs.
